Where Is A Reputable Place To Purchase A Very Cheap Laptop In The Uk?

My budget stretches to around £200. I don’t mind if it’s second hand but I need a decent one. Please, don’t suggest eBay because I have no guarantee of a reputable seller and I have been ripped off there twice.

second hand and decent are not two words you usually find when talking about laptops.
the 2 biggest reason people have for selling their beloved lappy are
1 outdated
2 duff/failing battery
1. there is no way to upgrade a laptop – all the components are an integral part of the motherboard. Graphics are mediocre at best on an old lappy they will be little better than text and still images only
2 the average battery life on a laptop is 2-3 years they then ave shorter and shorter runtimes between charges then comes the permanently plugged in time – this starts the pc shutting itself down as more and more power is needed to compesate for a dud battery
cost of replacement batteries is falling but its still between 50 to 100 pounds
theres half your budget gone.
take my advice and look for a better desktop
but your budget is very limited
good luck

Have you looked in the supermarkets like Tesco and Asda, they are always selling laptops at or around the amount you mention, they are name brands and even have the latest dual core processors and at least a 512Mb of ram, they might not have centrino chips but for that kind of money you would not expect it and they might still be on sale from xmas, you will get 12 months warrenty and a wireless network card. Have a look, best of luck – Oh if you do see something remember where you heard it!
Try Dell Outlet
Depending on where you are most big citys have a shop called “Cash Converters” I saw laptops in the Brighton store from £100 on Friday. All second hand but you do get a 3 month guarantee
Dont Buy cheap laptops buy brand new cheap laptops
cheap laptop or used laptops cost u more money then buying a new one .
In new laptop u get every thing new
so if u pay 100 £ for old laptop u will be able to get newone off display at 250 or 300 .2 to 3 times more but worth it .
If you buy online at PC World you can get a lot of discount rather than going into the shops themselves. Also PC World where doing some kind of deal referring to free laptop contract with Broadband but i am unclear of that. Finally PC World also do Reconditioned Laptops and i am sure they sell with a Guarantee.
try this website, it got good quality http://www.laptopdirect.co.uk or try http://www.dell.co.uk
I don’t know if this one ships to UK, but it will give you an idea of whats out there, prices and specs.http://www.ncix.com/search/?q=Notebooks%…
They should tho, a friend of mine in Denmark got one from them and she was totally delighted by the price as she was able to buy a much better one for less. It would have cost her a fortune in Denmark. She’s had it for two years now and has had no problems. I think it is an HP 8000, 17″ screen, it is loaded and she is verrry happy.
