It prices on laptops have hardly changed over the last 6 months or so, especially with money problems.
I’m unable to find a decent laptop for under £350, the ones around the price of £300 (an ideal price for me) are only the barebone systems with the minimal hardware spec to run Vista (which hogs a lot of things and I think is a step back from XP).
But anyways, I was thinking about donning for a laptop with no operating system (any suggestions where to look) and also whether anyone has experience with getting a laptop setup with say Linux such as Ubuntu, especially with drivers etc.
Failing that, I was wondering if there were maybe a reasonable priced XP laptop that didn’t charge as much as vista (some I’ve seen actually charge more for XP as opposed to vista).
Or am I doomed to the second hand market?
I know the spring sales are coming up, but I’ve checked a couple of websites and aren’t notice a real difference in all honesty.
If anyone has got any suggestions such as websites/online stores, that’ll be a great help (no dell, pcworld and other obvious ones).
Thanks, and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays :)
