The documentary, which features Samantha Harris, Christine Anu, James Tobin and Clint Bizzell, is centered on One Laptop per Child (OLPC) Australia’s XO deployments in Mornington Island and Bloomfield, both in Far North Queensland. It captures the celebrity’s journey and experiences in these remote locations; namely their involvement in handing out XO laptops and their interactions with the children regarding their dreams and aspirations. All four celebrities talk to the children about achieving their respective dreams, and the importance of setting goals. They also work with the children on their new XO laptops, and show them the ways that this technology can help them to realise their full potential. The documentary aims to raise awareness of our initiative and in particular promote a campaign which was run in conjunction with one of our Partners, Telstra – whereby for every 100 messages of support received, Telstra donated an additional XO laptop to a child in remote communities — up to 500 XOs. We successfully reached our target of 50000 messages of support and 500 XOs are set to be deployed in the coming months.
