What is the difference between “sleep” and “hibernate” on laptops?

i can connect one computer to internet, the other seems to have no connection. It’s all about WIRED connection.
Wireless is working ok on both laptops.

I am trying to decide between two laptops. One is the Macbook Pro 13.3′ and the other is the Sony Vaio VGN-SR490. They are both about the same price and have very similar qualities. I am a college student who is majoring in Business. Thanks for your help.

Two laptops, cable internet, both running XP with wireless cards. The modem is connected to the first laptop. Does there have to be a router or will the wireless card itself broadcast after setting up a computer network?

For a budget like that, Wal-Mart and stores like that would be a good try, but know that you will be getting the minimum in terms of productivity and/or quality. The brands you want to look for are ones such as Acer or eMachines. They make some pretty solid machines and have good support. You can visit their websites to see if they have any online to buy. Also look for sales in your local paper during special holidays or events. Or if you trust it, Ebay, although make sure its from a reputable seller or else you risk the chance of a scam, but remember if it looks to good to be true, then it is. Also never use Western Union to pay for it.

My PC is a Windows, and i hav problems figuring out how to connect to the wireless network that is shared between to laptops already. How do i do it?
p.s: im new to the country so i dont noe if that has anything to do with the setting up.

I have two laptops connected on the same wireless network. One laptop is running Xp the other one Vista. I’m trying to transfer data (music, files) between the two laptops using the local network, but no success yet. can I do this via the wireless newtork?
