How to remove Norton anti-virus and replace with new.?

If I were to choose Avast free anti-virus, should I remove Norton first and then install Avast?

    Download Avast (or AVG) then remove norton, reboot and install your new AV program

    You can’t EVER remove Norton completely from your hard drive without reformatting it. Norton embeds itself into your computer to were you cant remove it completely

    yes you can,however all the free so-called anti-virus programs are scanners. Your best bet is to purchase,one that has total protection and sends you the disk in the mail. My choice? McAfee- total protection with /Site advisor

    get revouninstaller and use it to remove norton, then install avast. there is also a norton removal tool.
