How Do I Fit My Damaged Laptops Hardrive Into A Caddy To Retreive Data?

After my laptop was damaged I have bought a caddy to get all my data from my hardrive. The hardrive is from a dell 5160 inspiron and the caddy I have been given is a dynamode hdd 2.5 . I just cannot work out how the two should fit together. Have I been given the wrong caddy?

Go to Other World Computing. This adapter will let you connect the hard drive without a caddy to the USB port.http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20T…
As mentioned above it’s possible that you could have gotten a sata caddy and your hard drive will not fit. Or you could have left the adapter on the hard drive. The hard drive should have a series of pins coming out and not a long flat gold adapter on it. If that’s still on there, just take it off and your set!
You may have possibly been given the wrong caddy – if its a SATA caddy its wrong – you need an IDE caddy
