try buying a wireless router or keep it the same and by an access point
access point works better
All routers have a wired connection, mostly more than one. Simply connect her machine by network cable to the router.
Typically you only have one internet connection coming into your house into the "DSL modem". From there the DSL Modem would connect to a "wireless router" which is what your laptops are connected to. Wireless routers typically also have physical ports thatt you can run cables from to hardwired computers.
Some devices are combo DSL Modem and Wireless Router. They may not have ports available.
You’d have to provide the brand and model of your specific equipment for anyone to tell lyou the capabilities of it.
Get a wifi card for your mom’s desktop & install it inside the main tower (or USB wifi ‘dongle’) to give that unit wireless for the quickest way.
