My using the oldest method there is – RS232. AKA Comm 1 port. Look at the back of both computers and you will see a nine pin communications port next to the PS2 keyboard and PS2 mouse ports. The Comm 1 port was how laptops and desktops (well any two computers) were connected many years ago, as in the 1980′s and early 1990′s. I haven’t done it recently but I have read the help files about Networking and if I understand them correctly Windows Network program will allow you to set that up. It is just a matter of purchasing a RS232 to RS232 lead. On the other hand I have not read the help files on networking thoroughly enough to know whether or not you can connect via the USB ports. Barring in mind that USB stands for Universal Serial Bus I find it difficult to believe you can’t connect two computers in this method. You can communicate with just about any other device, why not two computer? But then I haven’t read the help files that thoroughly to know for sure.
well, if the router hasn’t got any more network socket then you can use wireless. In that case you will need a weireless adapter in that new pc and you will have to know the security settings for the router.
If the new pc has no network socket on but the router has then you just need a network card installed on the new pc and just wire it up to the router.
Also you can buy a 4 way lan hub or switch (probably ~10-20 pounds) and link that to the current network the following way:
Disconnect one computer from the router you have. Connect the freed-up socket to the new switch with a cable. Connect the disconnected computer to the new switch. If it was a 4 way socket you still will have 2 more free sockets.
If it has an “uplink” labelled socket connect that to the other router, it is however in many times irrelevant. It should just work fine.
Just make the new computer wireless and connect to the network the same way your two laptops are currently connected. You can buy a USB wireless card for the computer from pretty much any store these days. It will plug into your computer and then connect to the Belkin G wireless router.
